Can I Convert My Loft? – Frequently Asked Questions

The quick answer is ideally a minimum of 2.3 metres from the top of your existing floor joist to the bottom of the ridge (the peak of your roof). For some homes, we can lower the ceilings on the floor below to create the extra height in the loft, but you will need high ceilings to accommodate this option.
